In other words, I am now qualified for a probationary driver’s license (funny how they make that sound like you messed up), with the ability to upgrade it to a fully fledged competent driver’s license in 2 years assuming I don’t do anything that gets the former license revoked (knocks on wood).
Yes, the license is good for both manuals and automatics.

I don’t know what any of those words on the paper mean, but congratulations! What language is that, anyways?

Congrats!
What are the restrictions on the probationary license?

The demerit point count that can be accumulated on the probationary license before it is revoked is lower, 10 points maximum to the competent license’ 15.

Oh, that’s not so bad. In many US states, and I believe this is common practice in Europe, when you first get your license, there are actual restrictions on where or when you can drive, and how many passengers you can have until you get your full license. In my state, for example, you can only have one other passenger in the car until you’re 18 years old.
